In my mind, Mikey is like a cat. He cycles between periods of ridiculous activity and deep slumber, with almost no middle ground. The guys could be playing video games on the couch, and pass Mikey the controller for his turn, to find that he fell asleep waiting.
I also tried out something I’ve seen pop up in other fan work every now and again. It’s a little red-eared slider stripe under the mask.
I think it was mentioned in the comics somewhere that the guys are supposed to have been mutated from this species (they are commonly kept as pets even if that’s just fanon), but the best part is it allows the guys to exist in both “canon” color schemes at once – multicolored masks like most people are used to, but when they take them off they all have red “masks” as in the original Mirage comics. :3
