i love his personality i love that he’s slow and dopey and doesn’t know what’s going on around him half of the time but can be really weird and quick witted sometimes. i love that he’s kind and caring and feels like a genuine person. i love tht he cries a lot and is a sensitive lil precious bby i love how reflective and thoughtful he is  i love it when he smiles and his cute lil eyes turn in lil moon crescents i love his cute lil pouty upper lip and his cute nose i love his smile i love it so much its so beautiful and i love it when he gets nervous when asked to do stuff and he does this cute lil nervous fake laugh i love his voice and its so soothing i love it when he composes songs are really great i wish he gets to compose more in the future i love it when he blinks b/c his contacts are drying his eyes out i just find it really adorable i love his big ass shoulders and thick arms and legs he looks so sturdy nd wide he look like he can catch u no matter what i love that he looks like a big cuddly friendly bear i love that hes feminine lookin but also masculine i love it when he puffs up his cheeks i love his cute puffy cheeks so much fkc i love how cute he looks when hes sleepy i LOVE CNU SO MUCH FCK I COULD WRITE AN ENTIRE ESSAY ABOUT MY LOVE FOR SHIN DONGWOO 

i feel like the world could use a little (a lot!) more cnu love so here are a few other things i personally love about cnu:

• his commitment to excellence. he looks up to people who are literally the best in the business – michael jackson, usher – and you can tell how hard he works to channel them in his own artistic practice. in addition, he pushes himself to attain greater excellence as a performer and composer, seeking feedback from multiple venues and doing better and better with each performance.
• his stage persona as the vitamin, the wingman, and (when it’s his line) the sex appeal captain (which he’s improved on vastly in the last year or so).
• his bro-ness. he’s such a bro but he is the most non-threatening of bros.
• his clinginess & unmasked need for physical affection/physical contact with the people who are important to him.
• his dry, sometimes sarcastic sense of humor.
• his increasing level of not giving a single f about “idol image”
• his ability to engage his practice on an intellectual level – to connect the everyday (e.g. cupcakes; singing) to the bigger picture (e.g. peace between north & south korea; being part of fans’ lives).
• his willingness to be earnest & vulnerable in his music (see for example lyrics of seoul, good love).
• his deep internal processing. i think reading cnu as “slow” is a way of glossing the fact that there’s literally so much happening in his brain and maybe like 12% gets verbally expressed (vs. baro & sandeul who externalize 70-80% of their thoughts). there’s a reason cnu’s drawing of himself was an anthill – it’s all below the surface & very complicated. that’s not actually “slow,” that’s “we don’t get to access all that stuff” although we can get hints through body language and facial expressions.
• his desire to be inclusive. this is an idol who hugs gay teens, who says “y’all,” and who is learning two foreign languages (and posting on social media in both) for his fans who don’t speak korean. this is also an idol who points out that b1a4’s charity works are intended to draw attention to folks in the community who don’t usually get positive attention.
• his compassion: for fans, for children, for critters (malgeumie! owen!), for plants; for a stranger who shared about her father’s drinking problem; for his father.

and especially:

• his self-envisioned role as a nurturer of others, particularly the younger members of the group, and as a supportive peer to jinyoung. cnu helps bring out the best in his group members and i can’t say enough how awesome that is.
