Domestic ‘violence’ against men is valid as violence against women. That’s why they haven’t opened up any shelters for them yet!

Okay, I’m done seeing this. I’m done with people like you acting all high and mighty against men because “men are trash” or some other shit you are probably going to reply to me with.

Years ago, my twin brother got into a relationship with a woman. She was sweet, kind, and seemed supportive. The exact kinda relationship you want to see a family member get into. But little by little, day by day, my brother started talking and hanging out with me. At first I thought it was something I did, maybe I said something wrong. But no, this bitch told my brother to stop spending with any female woman he knows, including family. Of course, warning bells go off in my head, but I chose to ignore them. Like you, I was close minded at one point and believed that men couldn’t be abused. I will regret this decision for the rest of my life.

The violence soon began after she trapped him. Yes I use the word trap, because that’s basically what happened. She didn’t let him out of the house because she “loved” him and was scared he would leave her. He wasn’t allowed to go to parties because he might cheat on her. He was alone with this woman, who even controlled how long he spent online and where he went. (She used parent controls.)

The violence began as minor stuff, pushing him or “accidentally” stepping on his feet or hands. But like most domestic violence cases, it just got worst. The big one first happened when she slapped him across the face after he refused to not come to our dad’s birthday celebration. She “apologized” and then said that she wouldn’t do that if he would just listen to her.

He tried, oh gods above did my brother try to keep her happy. It was no longer about because he loved her, but he was scared that she would hurt him or destroy something precious to him. She started misgendering him (my brother transitioned from FtM), insulting him, making fun of his likes and hobbies. She would destroy his photos or personal belongings like clothes.

One day, enough was enough, and after she took paused from punching him during an argument, he pushed her hard enough that she fell to the floor, and he ran to the bathroom to call me to come and help him. At this point, I did basic research about domestic violence against men (something you obviously haven’t OP) and knew something horrible was going on. I quickly drove over to their house, not home… never home, and picked him up as she was screaming on the porch to have him arrested for “hurting” her.

Just a few hours later, after cleaning himself up and me bandaging any wounds on him, the police showed up to our house. Our first though, as Native Hawaiians, was “oh fuck.” So after hearing his side of the story, you know what this PO did? He arrested my brother! On the charges of domestic violence. For you ask? Pushing her. Yeah, that thing my brother did in self defense? Got him arrested.

He soon got released on flimsy charges, and this bitch tried to get together with him again. Not making the same mistake twice, we got him to place a restraining order against her. The police wouldn’t do shit, so he had to get a restraining order.

And after all of this, my brother still doubts that he went through domestic violence, because people like OP exist who believe that women are fragile and weak against the strong and unbreakable men. And let’s just forget about same sex relationships, even though there is a same sex domestic violence epidemic happening.

Ignoring this idiotic, sexist OP for a second. I beg anyone reading this, if you or a love one is going through domestic abuse, or believe you are, I beg you, as someone who made the mistake of not taking action for so long, to not make the same mistake I did. It doesn’t matter if you are a man, woman, or nonbinary. Nobody deserves to go through such a difficult situation, much less to feel like nobody is one their side. (Like OP.) Please, call the  National Domestic Violence Hotline. Their number is

1-800-799-7233. You are not alone.

There was one in Canada.

WAS being the key word because when the person who opened it did so, he was ridiculed, attacked and harassed over it all while the government never paid him enough to keep it going. Then he committed suicide.

… The funny thing is that I’m not making this up.

Imagine that the genders were reversed:

That a woman opened up a woman abuse shelter, the only kind in her country, and because of that was attacked until it failed and she killed herself.

If you’re disgusted by that image OP, you’re a hypocrite. Because the only thing that changed in that scenario is the gender.

Sometimes you just want science to get to the point that you could throat punch someone through their phone line. That OP is one of those times.

There’s no funding for men’s shelters. There’s no real support for changing the laws to be equal either.

“But feminists are working to change that!”

No they aren’t, they have actively worked to prevent dv/da laws AND rape laws changing to protect men.

Once again, feminism, like op, is cancer.

Antifa: lets dismantle our current government and instigate a horrendous for of government that commits mass murder and genocide for other reasons while using facist methods to try and silence other people

BLM: lies, lies, lies, bullshit riots, and cop shooting

centrist: everyone needs to chill the fuck out

Nazis: “The Jews are too privileged, they have too much power, they’re oppressing the German people!”

SJWs (AntiFa, BLM, etc): “The whites are too privileged, they have too much power, they’re oppressing the non-white people!”

“Hitler’s first written utterance on political questions dating from this period emphasized that what he called “the anti-Semitism of reason” must lead “to the systematic combating and elimination of Jewish privileges. Its ultimate goal must implacably be the total removal of the Jews.“”

“…the vile, anti-Semitic propaganda of the 1930’s, when splashed across Der Spiegel was blaming Jews – and so called disproportionate Jewish wealth – for Germany’s losing WWI and the country’s subsequent economic downturn. Canards about Jews controlling world finances – first promulgated by the Tsarist forgery, “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion” – was anti-Semitic back then and it is anti-Semitic today…”

Why are these considered only bad if “white” is turned to something else? It’s the same rhetoric that the nazis spread. Why should we consider anyone who uses this any better than the nazis, when they said the same stuff?

Someone defending Antifa or BLM deliberately ignores what they actually flippin’ do.

Take a shot.

remember that time a guy did an experiment where he did an entire speech at an antifa rally using only hitler quotes and everyone cheered

I’m screaming Antifa is literally a terrorist group “let’s just not commit genocide” my ass

Let’s back waaay the fuck up for a second here. These fucks don’t even know what the nazis were all about, but they’re not only out there insisting that everyone they hate is a nazi, but also that the reason they hate these people is because their political enemies are out there marching to promote genocide. Antifa is delusional enough to believe that they are going to stop a second holocaust, which they insist now covers all non-whites, by, 1) getting into street fights, smashing windows, knocking over trashcans, pulling random people out of their cars, and burning things, and 2) by demanding, though explicit violence, a total dismantlement of the current government to be replaced with a socialist/marxist government.

This is right up there with “feminism means equality!” and “communism is just, like, being nice to people?????”

Let’s talk about Disney’s Live Action Remakes…

I have a ton of issues with Disney’s recent trend of taking their animated films and remaking them in live action.

For starters, it feels like a big

F🖕CK YOU

to the art of animation.

Go back and watch Beauty and the Beast and watch how the Beast is animated. He’s so expressive, he doesn’t need to say a word, yet you know what he’s thinking.

Once he starts getting his act together and starts being nice to Belle, he’s no longer scary. I wanna hug this guy!

With the live action film, he’s never as expressive and he never really cleans up his act. He’s still a jerk. He doesn’t give Belle the library as a kind gesture because he knows it’s something she’d love, he gives her permission to read his books because he dislikes her taste in stories and wants her to expand her horizons.

Go and listen to the 1991 directors talk about animating the Beast, it’s incredibly fascinating, and they explain it far better than I can.

Speaking of Beauty and the Beast, Disney’s remaking films that were successful and beloved.

The animated Beauty and the Beast was the first animated film nominated for BEST PICTURE!! Why would you want to remake a film so good, the Academy nominated it for one of the highest honors in cinema?!

The remake couldn’t even get an original song nomination!

And it’s not just Beauty getting this treatment.

Dumbo, Aladdin, Mulan, Lilo and Stitch and even goddamn LION KING are getting remade in live action as well.

FUCKING LION KING!!!

That was the 1990s equivalent of Frozen! It was the highest grossing animated film for years!

On top of that, THERE ARE NO HUMANS IN THAT STORY!!

How the hell are you gonna make a live action version of the Lion King when there are no humans?!

I see a handful of ways they could do it.

  • Do it in the style of the Broadway show
  • Insert pointless human characters
  • Photoshop animals mouths (ie Underdog)
  • CGI characters on live action backgrounds (ie Dinosaur)
  • CGI animals on a CGI background in which case it won’t be a live action remake it will be a CGI REMAKE!

If Disney really wants to keep doing live action remakes, how about remaking a film that can be improved?

For example, the Black Cauldron.

The film was a financial and critical bomb (the Care Bears Movie beat it at the box office, it was that bad) and it would take Disney years to recover from it.

This story has plenty of potential, being based on a book, and the Horned King being a very intimidating villain. If given to the right person, this could be an amazing film!

And I believe they had the perfect person for such a project right under their noses.

He was once Disney animator who designed concept art for the film, but was later fired from the studio after his short film endeavors failed to meet expectations. He went on to make some amazing movies for other studios like Warner Bros. Even returning to Disney years later to help with some of their most successful movies.

Know who that was?

TIM FUCKIN BURTON!!

Imagine a live action Black Cauldron remake directed by Tim Burton!!

Get him off Dumbo and get him on the Black Cauldron! It’s a match made in heaven!!

But, its a risky project. Black Cauldron is a very scary film, mainly because of the Horned King. Several shots had to be cut because they were too intense, the film was almost rated R because of them. Imagine seeing such imagery brought to life by Burton.

However, I feel it’s a risk worth taking.

And that’s my biggest issue with these remakes.

They’re safe.

They’ll make money, either because people are legitimately excited about them or they’re going to see them out of spite.

And if they keep making money, they’ll keep throwing them out.

And after they’ve made their quick buck, everyone will slowly go back to the originals, leaving these remakes to be forgotten, because they never took risks.

Agreeing with most of the stuff here.

One point you came close to is another big problem I have with the live action remakes…

A phrase I hear people reiterate when talking about these movies is: “it brings the original movie to life!!”

No. No, no, and no.

The animation already brought the stories to life. That’s what animation does.

But Disney’s remaking all their classic movies as live action is reinforcing the misconception that most of the west has that animation is a lesser art form (if it’s considered an art form at all)–that live action is more mature, more valid, superior. Like the original films will not be “real” or “valid” until remade into live action.

Disney is doing a disservice to the art of animation as a whole by making these things, and I’m really, really tired of it.

Am I the only one whose internet addiction started with my parents not letting me fucking go anywhere

This but I also had no friends so I wouldn’t have anywhere to go if I was allowed

this is a thing! danah boyd is a researcher who has been studying social media for over a decade and in her 2014 book it’s complicated she argues that teenage social media “addiction” (which she also contends is like…..not actually a thing) is a result of the fact that “today’s teenagers have less freedom to wander than any previous generation” because “parents argue that these restrictions are necessary in an increasingly dangerous society, even though the data suggest that contemporary youth face fewer dangers than they did twenty years ago.”

as a result, teenagers are reclaiming these lost social spaces (which their parents and grandparents had in the form of mall hangouts, drive-in theaters, after school parking lots, etc) by using social media, where they can continue to “engage in crucial aspects of maturation: self-presentation, managing social relationships, and developing an understanding of the world around them,” aka stuff that teens are Supposed to be doing
